Families need women who make home a special place to live, learn, and grow. There is no other job that presents as many opportunities for shaping (for the good or the bad) the future of our country – of our world – than that of a homemaker! Behind every great man there is all always a greater woman behind him! Several years before the Afghan conflict, 20/20’sBarbara Walters did a story on gender roles in Kabul, Afghanistan. She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands. On a later revisit she observed that women still walked behind their husbands. Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, Afghani women still maintained the old custom. Approaching one she asked, ‘Why do you now seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?’ The woman looked her straight in the eye, and without hesitation said, ‘Land mines.’ God Bless and thank you for the Great Women in my life!
